This is a very attractive hotel. It feels rich as you walk in and the service is excellent. It has very elegant decor and the rooms are nice; however it is situated beside the tracks (BTW: there were at least 5 trains between 9pm and...More
HOtel looks great from the lobby, but the rooms were small, no hangers in the closet, the local train is 20 feet outside your window. I thought an airplane was landing on top of the building during the night...it was a train passing by...what a way to wake up!
The staff at the front desk seemed unexperienced.LOcation is perfect to head to Machu PIcchu day trip to hike the trails. Great location to the local shops, footsteps away.
I had mixed feelings about the Sumaq Hotel. One of the major negatives was the inadequate Sound proofing in the rooms that really detracts from the accommodation experience - we were lucky to have a river view room - but we could still hear train at back of the hotel but river was like a river freeway - bring your earplugs - its really really really loud.
Food at dinner and breakfast was good and probably the best asset to the hotel. However the "complementary drink" is the tiniest Pisco Sour you will ever have...a message to Management - Either dont offer a free drink or dont be stingy.
Wifi was very weak in our room also. And no AC either - we had to ask for a fan.
In hind-sight - i would have preferred to have 5 nights at Palacio del Inka in Cusco and made my Machu Picchu day a long day ..its easy enough to get a early train up and a late train back. much better standard hotel and better value. More
What a find! The service and attention was the best that I have had. The restaurant has a fine chef and everything served looks and tastes like it was prepared by a gourmet chef. The room was a suite which was clean and well supplied with anything that we would need. Priscilla waited on us for dinner; she was efficient, pleasant and helpful with any questions that we had. My wife and I spent one night here after a one day Inca trail hike. We really enjoyed our stay. They greet you with a refreshment at check in and brought our bags to the train station at check out. The shower was great and the bed was comfortable. We had a river view which was nice. You hear the roar of the river constantly which oddly sounds like the A/c is running. There is no A/C which wasn’t a huge deal and we called down to the front desk and they brought a fan with in minutes. We also had a great dinner that evening which was included. Breakfast was also offered and they provided a great spread. We also had a couples massage upon our arrival. The spa seemed very basic but it was clean and the massage was very good. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting Machu Picchu.
